TOKYO, Japan - Anli Sugano, a Japanese jazz singer who performed internationally, died of cancer on June 30 at the age of 51. In 1987, Sugano became the first Japanese singer to participate in Canada's prestigious Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. Her real name was Shizuko Umeyama.
